I have recently bought an old johnson motor which I'm not sure of the year model of. The model number is J35RI CTS. If someone could maybe tell me the year it would be appreciated. I took it out a few times with no incident, but the last time it kept jumping out of gear if I gave it very much throttle. It did fine if I kept her throttled down? Thanks in advance for your help.

1983, Waff. I thought you said "old". Johnnys don't get "old" until they are at least 40.

Get a Service Manual and readjust the shift linkage. If that doesn't fix it you may need a dog clutch and/or FWD gear.
