The choke will not close when starting except manually? Engine starts if closed.
Dead spot when moving throttle?
Are two related?
What cause this?

Choke not working could be switch, wiring, or solenoid.

Most controls have a deadspot in the throttle.
You need to push throttle 3/4 of the way before it accelerates.
This allows the gearcase to go into gear before the engine starts to rev.

That is sure a lot of help!!!

There is a choke solinoid in front of the carb. This is actuated by pushing the key in. There should be an audible click when you do this and you should see the choke butterfly close. It could be that the screw that holds the choke linkage (item 42) became loose or fell off. See HERE
