lack of power

I recently bought a 1988 Suzuki DT 85. It idles great, when you put it in gear it shakes & jerks until you advance the throttle to 900-1000 rpm, then it smoothes out. When you apply full power it takes awhile to build rpm then it tops out at 4200 rpm. It runs smooth & quiet.
It has a plastic in bottom fuel tank which I pumped out the old fuel & put in new fuel. has new sparkplugs & filters, carbs were rebuilt 4 months ago before I bought it.
At idle the #2 cylinder does not appear to be firing, however there is spark to the plug.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: lack of power

you must either clean those carbs again, or check out the reed valves especially for the no.2 cyl .....

Re: lack of power

Thank you. I pulled the carbs, & checked the reeds. The Carbs were the problem. They were clean. The correct settings for the float is 17mm +/_ 2 (15-19) . One was 15, 14 & 21. I reset them & it runs great.

Again thank you
