need some basic advice . getting boat back with new engine

as some have read my posts . my boat as been in the shop too long.
1. new rebuild engine and new water pump. i will do the bellows myself
the gas has been sitting in the tank 5+ years. other then lubing the cables etc..any input on what i should do..i have an acess panel fot the tank i was going to remove it and clean it. check all my gauges. clean boat. any advice would help. this is my first 5.7 alpha 1 merc..i had 4cyl. omc years ago but lots of outboards.

You definitely want to use new gas with your new engine. Hopefully you have a water seperating fuel filter between the engine and the tank, or one mounted on the engine.
Just get the OEM service manuals for your engine and drive and follow em.
You really can't lube the cables, so don't worry about those. If they are stiff or rough moving (Especially the lower outdrive shift cable) it should be replaced now.

water seperating fuel filter. don i have one on the engine . what manual is it don. i have the repair manual # 9 i think its at the other house.is the repair shop manual the same book
