Hey, everyone... this is my first time ever on a boating forum.. and i havent been around boats since i was younger... so im not gonna know all the lingo and stuff... haha... anyways, me and my dad have a 20' vector Hydra Sport with a 225 horse honda on it... it has a manual jackplate and trim tabs... how it is setup right now the gps says the boat tops out at about 62-64 mph... when she is trimmed out... do you think shes got anymore in her? and how? What kinda prop would be best for top speed? When we bought the boat the guy said the jack plate was set up "correctly" but does that doesnt neccesarily mean its the best for top speed right? how should i run the trim tabs? How about the prop, what brand or pitch or 3 or 4 blade or alumnum or SS, would be best? If you havent noticed... i dont know a ton. Thanks for the help guys!

She's got loads more in her, it is all about the perfect setup, firstly get about a 27p 4-blade prop SS .... powertech makes a nice prop like that that the bass fishing guys use, then you will have to take the settings millimeter by millimeter, make sure the cavitation plate is level with the lowest point of the hull and then take it from there, with the perfect setup you should get about 77mph ....

If you don't have a water pressure gauge installed, install one before you begin messing with the jack plate. Get too high and you lose water pressure. You gave no current WOT RPM figure so that would be nice to know.

hey guys thanks for the help! right now the prop that is on there is a Honda 4-blade SS... it is a "S 4x14 1/4x17R" Whatever all of that means! <--- is that prop good? The solid adjustable jack plate that is on there is a "Pro Hi-Jacker HP" .... oh and you know the "cavitation plate" well, is that the one that is right above the prop and above the water intake? because there are 2 plate looking things that run parallel with the water level it looks like... the bottom one looks to be about level too...

The cav plate is the one just above the prop.Knowing your top rpm will be the most help at this point..:)
