1988 25 Hp Evinrude not getting fuel

I have a 1988 25 hp evinrude that idles just fine but will speed up. I have changed out the fuel pump, also tried new tank and hose from another boat
but still no help. While working on it I discovered that if I hold my hand over the throat of the carurator it would run ok. any suggestions

Sounds like some trash in the carb. Time to rebuild.

cruddy high speed jets. carb soaking cleaning, rebuild with a complete kit.
