gelcoat damage

I was wondering if i used the 2part epoxy mix that elmers makes would be good to do some repairs to the gel coat on my boat?It has a resin that mixes with the hardener.This is not the type that you use with the fiberclass cloth.Just a 2 part mix and does it hold up under water very well?

get a marine repair kit. they make gelcoat repair in colors. google gelcoat repair.
