Alpha one prop problem

Hi guys. I just bought a new SS prop (Cabela's brand, it was on sale) for my Alpha one outdrive. It had an aluminum Michigan Wheel on it. The new SS one does not have the slots for the tabs to bend down into when tightening the prop nut. Also, the prop nut runs out of thread before it contacts the prop so the prop has about a half inch of play when the nut is completely tight. Is there an adapter that goes between the prop and the prop nut? Cabela's looked at me like I was from a different planet when I asked them about it. Does iboats have one? Thanks so much for the help.

Re: Alpha one prop problem

Not sure of exact requirements, but different props take different thrust washers and different prop nuts. That's why many new props you see advertised have little stars next to them or have additional hardware requirements listed. Cabellas must not be real bright or must not sell too many props.
Search iboats for prop hardware, I'll bet they'll have something listed. But it'll be hard to tell what one you need just from a picture, won't it?

Thanks for the reply. No, Cabela's isn't too bright. It's kinda like buying boat parts at Wal mart. I'll check out prop hardware here and see if anything makes sense, otherwise I'll just take it back. Thanks again.

Yes, that Merc looking piece is sold separately. Cabelas has them, they get them from Turbo and Merc. Turbo calls them the "Mercury castle washer".
