How to know the NO and COMMON terminal on solenoid?

Going through the manual on installing this new throttle and it says:

"With the control in NEUTRAL, connect one wire of the tester to the COMMON terminal and one wire to the NO (Normally Open) Terminal. The test light must light.

Connect the neutral safety switch between the ignition switch (start lead) and the starter solenoid"

1.) How do I know which terminal is which? Color wires?
2.) What is the start lead? Assume its colored as well? What color?

3.) When it says a moisture displacing lubricant for the moving parts, would a spray like WD40 work, or should I use some type of grease?

Thanks!

WD-40= Water displacement test # 40. Yes it will work fine.

Do you have a schematic in that manual?

The start lead should be yellow/red.....
Lithium based grease, I think....:)

No schematic for neutral safety wiring.

There is a wiring diagram for the tilt & trim buttons.

I wonder if it really matters for the terminals. If I connect my multimeter to the posts I should get either a positive or negative reading if its getting juice, correct? So I just switch the connections if I get a negative reading correct? (Assuming its getting ANY juice after I wire it) :)

More than likely, the neutral safety switch only has two terminals so I don't see what the problem is.

Hmmm. Thought the terminals were on the solenoid it was talking about.

Actually it does have a schematic:

Look at page 9

Controller Manual

Actually I found an actual switch to look at and I remember the one that was on the old controller. So basically the switch just needs to be wired inline with the yellow/red starter lead wire?
