Don, I saw you had replied to a post a while back not to shift the drive while the engine wasn't running. Unfortunately I saw that AFTER I've done that very thing this evening. Chances I've done damage? Suggestions on what to do with the shifter before I crank up the engine? (meaning try to make sure its in neutral).

If you had to use a lot of force to get it out of gear, yea, you might have damaged something. Start it and shift it and see if it works.

Update:

Started engine up and shifted fine with no problems (so far). Only time will tell if I did long-term damage I guess.
