1973 sea ray 240V cuddy what issues are likely with ethanol in fuel

Going to look at a 73 24 foot sea ray 240V cuddy for a possible lite offshore fishing boat.Cause of the age of the boat and ethanol in the fuel i'm thinking i'll probably have to replace fuel tanks,Go over both 4 cyclinder engines and drives.The floor and transom are solid yet.Anything else i should be looking at? The guy is asking 2900 for boat and trailer.I'm going to make a offer of 1500

You will most likely want to change the fuel lines, some of the older lines are made of materials that will deteriorate with the ethanol. If the fuel tanks are made of fiberglass, they will need replacement, the ethanol will erode these as well. Other than this, I don't know of any other issues with the older systems.

You would be advised to post this on the I/O forum, but if the boat has a fiberglass tank (not plastic), it will, if not already be a problem. Most other fuel system components, fuel lines, carb rebuild kits, are now E10 freindly. Just to clarify -- E10 is 10% ethanol, 90% gasoline. We in the midwest have used it since 1997. Ethanol (or E85) is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline (and not widely available outside of the midwest). Don't even think about it for your boat.

If and when u get new tanks buy this stuff its called star tron enzyme fuel treatment its for gas and u can buy it for diesel, it takes care of water,increases power,fuel economy cleans injectors,removes carbon build up,diperses bacteria and alagea,stabilizes fuel, and prevents and reverses E-10 ethanol enhanced gasoline problems. That came right off the bottle it self the marina the recomened it swears buy it. If i were u i would try it.
