My starter was bad on my 5.7 liter AQ290 Volvo Penta. I mistakenly took the old one out before I got the new one, which by the way is much smaller than the old one. Since some of the connectors were corroded I cut them off and put new connectors on. Now I'm not sure how to wire the new one up. I have 3 red wires, a yellow wire, a black wire, and a purple wire which all go somewhere? on the starter solenoid. Anyone now the proper connections? Thanks

A= red wires and main battery cable
B= yellow/red strip
C= nothing
D= purple wire

Have no idea about a black wire. Black is usually a ground, but nothing on the starter for that.

Thanks Don! The black wire has a connector that is larger than the yellow or purple. I wonder if it goes on one of the mounting bolts since it is about that size.

I checked and re-checked the starter wiring and if I hot wire it the starter turns over just fine. I checked the starter troubleshooting guide that is posted on the site and I have no +12 voltage at the big red wire on the starter. Anyone have any ideas where to look for a problem. I've rounded up all the usual suspects and the symptoms don't change. When I turn the ket nothing happens. Thanks

The big wire from the battery? Bad cable, or bad battery connection.

Thanks, the circuit breaker is fine, all the other things work fine, EXCEPT the tilt/trim motor, which curiously doesn't work either.

The Seloc manual shows two fuses one for the purple wire to the ignition switch and one for the yellow/red wire. I've searched high in low and can't find either of them. From the diagram it looks like they are in or near the switch. Any idea where they might be located? Thanks
