My 1990 18' Glastron runabout has always had a problem of spittin gas back out the fill hole while pumping gas unless I pump really slowly & pause often to allow the gas to vent. I had always assumed that this was because the vent was below the gas line while gassing up. I'm in the process of reflooring the boat & have the gas take completely exposed (pics later). I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestion as to how to fix this problem (especially now that can remove the tank)

Thanks

added info: it's a 17gal plastic tank mounted under the floor in the middle of the boat. the fill tube & fuel pickup lines enter the tank stern side & the vent enters tank bow side. the tank has somewhat of a U shape with the fill tube & vent being a couple inchs higher than the main resevior. I should post pics at some point today.

Sounds like your tank vent may be stopped up or inadequate. If it is not plugged, you could tee the line close to the tank and install an additional vent.

Ayuh,....... That's about as Good as it Gets,........
Having the Fill forward with the Vent would be Nice, but Not necessary......
Vent forward is usually the Key.......

Does your Vent line have a Loop in it,..??..??......

It Should,....... It'll keep Water out of your Fuel......
And it HAS to be looped Up, to drain,+ Not down,....It'll back up if Down....

Is the vent working properly? I have had them stopped up with salt before.
