Re: diy pylon....
Thanks for the ideas guys. My daughter has bee enjoying boarding, but i don't want a tower on my boat, nor a permanent pylon, etc... in a smaller bowrider i/o
went with the floor jack, but am going to use "right side up". Found that with a little cleaning up and coaxing, the bottom of the jack will just slide over a 3" pipe screwed into a pipe flange. So the pipe flange is bolted to a sandwich of plywood (about 3 inches thick and covered in epoxy setting up now) which spans the flat area in front of my back seat (bench) and about 8" front to back. Should be easily strong enough to help with the side by side stability. I'll cover the base in carpet, and the "floor jack" will now screw right into the pipe flange on the base.
in the morning, we'll put 3/8 thick aluminum backing plates under the rear cleats, make a cable for the bow hook, add a couple of ratcheting tie down straps from the pole to rear cleats and be ready to roll...
now I just need another 300 or 400 pounds in the bow to hold the shape wake we want at a little lower speed...
