Engine Bogging when applying full throttle

I was just wondering if you know why my engine would hesitate, or bog, when I give it gas from idle. If I apply throttle quickly (pulling a skiier), it boggs for a quick second and then resumes to full power. I have a 140 HP Merc. I/O on a '85 19' sea ray seville.

Check timing/ignition system, and check that your fuel system is clean.

Accelerator pump on the carb sounds like it's not squirting. Just take the air cleaner off and look down the throat whil someone operates the linkage(engine off) and sell if any fuel squirts down in the venturi area. Should be a pretty substantial (15-30cc) shot.

Try a couple things if you haven't already; I did these and it eliminated my problem. First, change the spark plugs, then put in a fuel cleaner, finally, try de-carbing the carburator.

I had the same problem, did the above and took it out and ran it around for a while trying to get that fuel/carb cleaner cycled through the system. Now, about every 3 or so times I fill up I put some gas/carb cleaner in the system. Runs great with no hesitation now.
