Johnson Water pump

Another question after working on a water pump, do you have to prime it before starting the motor or will it start pulling water immediately?

With the lower submerged or on the muffs will be fine.Do not start it dry..

I always like to see the water at least 2 inches above the cavitation plate so that I know the pump is full of water before I start it up. I have no idea if it will self-prime, so I don't take any chances.

Maybe someone else might know about this.
