i've been asked, how i was chosen. all i did was submit my name, and my experiences, with boating.

this is not an ad, for the boat, as i have no ties or obligation to the boat.

there was myself and 8 writers from various Boating Magazines, there for the test. we were not told the manufacturer, which is a first in the boating industry, we rated this boat strickly on it's on merits, and not the manufacturers, reputation.

thus, i'm going to let you guess who the Mfgr is, by looking at the pictures.

I will say that we put these 3 boats thru the wringer more than once. and you would have to be a complete idiot, to get in real trouble in these boats.

we had a 20mph winds gusting to 30 1-2 foot chop. wot @ 4500 got us in the 45-to 49 mph range. the ride was great for a 20 footer, detail to space, storage, and finish was super.

the instrument panel looks like it came out of the top of the line car. no glare, or reflection. the cockpit layout, is almost as big as my 23' deckboat.

there are 3 models, the fish & ski, where all the features have there on storage locker. the pedistal seats, are all removeable with there on storage space, and other than the trolling motor mount, you never know it was a FnS.

then there is the standard bowrider. full appointed,

and the ski, wakeboard package, with tower, this boat with the tower is about 1 1/2 seconds longer to get on plane than the other packages, as the weight of the tower throws the center of weight to the stearn about 12".

standard engine is a carborated 5.0, or you can down grade to the 4.3.

Ok, tell me who makes it. i was surprized.

I think this quote was probably a dead giveaway. It is probably a bligewhiner.

Re: Bayliner Test

I'm sure it is a Bayliner by the context of the thread. However, there really should be some more horrific colors used in the interior to make it truely a Bayliner :)

Re: Bayliner Test

it was fantastic, we punished this boat, they way i've never punished one, and found it took all the punishment you can give it. very hard to ventilate, in the sharp and i mean dead sharp turns. Yes they were Bilgewhiners, but this one is not. and the main thing i personally like is the you can get the glass liner, with the snap in carpet. we beat wood floors to death with the Bayliner guys, but this material they are using has a life time warranty. even so i'd still want the glass liner, as i hate carpet.

they are also coming out with the 22 footer similar to this.

they done this one right, much consumer research, and they listened. this boat has as much if not more than my 23' Deckboat.

Well apportioned.

Well apportioned.

I like the swim-step on the back, the way the ladder tucks under the hatch is pretty sweet.

Re: Bayliner Test

So that one was not a Bayliner? That was my guess and my second guess was a Tahoe

All i can say is WOW! Did they improve quality or what? Nice looking boats.
Are they still priced below most of the competition?

Re: Bayliner Test

they are all three the new Bayliner 205. just the different option packages. if i were in the market for a new boat, the Fish & Ski, would be a definate consideration. it gives the fish platforms, that are total stowable, and converts to a nice family boat is less than 10 minutes, everything in it's own compartment. nothing to take out and store in the garage.

I am not a Bayliner basher as I have owned a couple. Would be interesting to see how they hold up after a few years and what the quality of the components are that they use on the boat.

Re: Results of the Test Drive New Bowrider

they are going to be in the begining boaters budget, bottom of price range. the quality of the components looked and felt top notch. The stereo, with available sirius, is right with the top of the line. 4 speaker, place right. i wasn't a Bayliner basher either, just not a big fan. as i said before i would buy one now. as we all know, you leave them uncovered, tongue down, what's going to happen to any boat.

Re: Results of the Test Drive New Bowrider

they price was not set as of this week, but they hope to bring it in right around $20,000 full tow out package. the 4.3L boats were great with 3 people, but the are rated for up to 9 people, so the base engine is the 5.0 carbed engine.
