Fishing trip canceled on such a nice day!

I have a 1988 Yamaha 130 carburetored motor. Put her in today for my first run of the season. Motor dies not getting any fuel. Seems when you pump the primer ball it does not get hard and hold the fuel thought the system. If I pump ball 20 times it starts them dies.

Fuel pump replaced 50 hours ago
New 10 micron water/fuel separator
Cleaned all filters
50 gallons of fresh fuel

What keeps the fuel from feeding back to the tank? Is there a check valve of some sort in the ball or fuel pump?

Thanks

Update: Pulled filters and water seperator, clean again (not dirty) no water founf in seperator gas looks clean.

Hooked up different tank and hose to engine, got running but runs like crap. Last season I made the mistake of running tank dry - sucked in a ton of crap and carbs got clogged. I pulled down carbs and cleaned and it seemed to run okay in the yard afterwards - make me think fuel pump got all screwed up with dirt. I did not take it apart.

What do you think, pop in a fuel pump? Its only $$$

No doubt it needs replacing. You might also check the antisiphon valve in the tank pickup.

Okay replaced fuel pump no improvement. Pull carbs, tore down, soaked and blew out. Put back together and seems to run fine in yard on auxilary fuel tank and different hose.

I'm still concerned about the anti siphon valve you mention, were can this be found as I try to prime from the main tank (50 gallon in hull) and I can't get a prime.

It is a small ball in the pickup barb where you hook the hose to the tank.

I don't see that on my set up.

Mine goes tank - shut off on outout of tank - hose - water/fuel sep - hose - primer ball - hose - glass filter - hose - Yamaha filter - hose - fuel pump - hose - carbs

There is a check valve ball in the primer bulb, I think mine is bad as I tried another and it works fine - on my way to the store for a new one.

Fixed - replaced primer ball as check valve was bad in old ball
