I have a 1972 cub 147 made by International

Lots of sheet metal on that that looks a lot like mine. It should say on the identaplate on the back who manufactured it. Mine has stickers on the side with the IH symbol.

It still could be made by MTD under Internationals specs. The Cubs got made a lot cheaper after the 10 year spec mandate was up. My 2000 is the biggest POS I've every had.

Maintain them old tractors. They don't make them like that anymore.

checked it out, it's older model, looks well maintained, bought it.

What's the oil required for the engine and drivetrain? Anyone have a manual for this?

bandit86 not a bad thing just not an IH there are a lot of prople that collect them, the collectors do not want the mtd's just the IH's. watch ebay for manuals, most are pdf files on a burned cd but hey they work. I have a 108 cub my self.

What?? Although it fits, it's not correct. It stands for:

M=modern
T=tool and
D=die co.

Their current brands are Cub Cadet, TroyBilt, YardMan, White, YardMachines, Bolens, and GardenWay.


Anyway, here's a link to a manual. Notice there is a service and a parts manual...

For my hydrastatic unit, I bought the required lube from the local Cub dealer. Mine hadn't been changed for so long that during the winter I couldn't get it to move. There was so much gunk and moisture in it that it wouldn't allow it to work. I was worried that I distroyed it. I got it into the garage and warmed it up. Drained the old, put a new filter on with fresh lube and it has been working excellent.

What I find somewhat amazing about my old tractor is that it is 35 years old and still has the original front tires on it. They still have air and a small bit of tread. My newer one I have had problems keeping air in the tires even when it was new.

you bet it is they change names merge sell off etc. things like murry owns briggs.

The older lawn tractors work much better than the new one because they were built with pride to last and work a long time, now the sh!t is built with one purpose and one purpous only, to sell and make money. The metal in the decks is so thin it will never hold up. And then the steering box (ya right) goes out. Just new junk!
