Does anyone know if one has to pull the powerhead to remove the midsection for replament due to a crack in it? I think I have removed all the bolts from the midsection and it dosent seem to want to come off. I even hit it pretty hard with a hammer since it already has a crack in it anyway. Still, it seems like there's some sort of bolt under the powerhead or something that I havent exposed yet. I'm a pretty good shady tree, but I have never been in to an outboard this far. I just don't want to pull this powerhead if I realy don't have to. By the way, the outboard is a 1972 johnson 125hp V4 with electric shift. I'm not sure if the midsection got cracked from some debri I hit that munched my prop a few weeks ago, or if it craked when the bolts came very loose while running the other day. Which ever it was the gear case didn't want to come off and I had to force it. Amazingly, the splines still look good! However, maybe I missed something when I inspected them the other day. Remember that it is a 4 spline, course spline style shaft. Anyway, I'll be hopeing for a good responce, and of course, better luck! Thanks, Jeff.
P.S. If anyone has parts for this hydroelectric/push button shift, 125 Johnson let me know!
1972 to ? 85, 100, 115, 125, 135 will work.
