If the 110 you are considering has been taken care of and is known to be in good operating condition ,I would opt for it hands down over the afformentioned 125.It should push the 17 ft tri-hull easily to 40 mph plus if propped correctly.

The 110 is the best choice. Depends on the use of the boat i would say 17 to a 19 pitch prop.

The 125 is crank rated, the 110 is propshaft rated. They probably make the same HP. The 125 is the last of the electric shift lower units-while good in their day, they are hard to find parts for. (or anyone to work on them.) The mechanical shift on the 110 is reliable. The 125 is a flatback, the 110 has the tuned exhaust. The 110 has a more modern ignition system, the later power trim system, newer fuel primer system and VRO-all plusses. Opt for the 110. I would do a compression check, and check it's shifiting while running prior to purchase.

110 hands down. also the power pack and stator on the 1972 are very expensive.

110 as long as it is in good shape. Nice user friendly motor but make sure the VRO is working O.K. otherwise you may want to run it on premix.
