Is there a thermostat on my 50hp thunderbolt? Should water spray out as soon as the motor is started? Also do the last two numbers on the sn indicate the year of mgf? "72" If so can someone give me the part number for a replacement water pump?

thanks for he help

I doubt the numbers indicate the year. If you post the serial number, someone here can help you identify the exact year of your motor.

If it's an old classic 4 cyl design, it won't. If 3 cyl yes with a pressure relief popoff. Water should be available in 15 (give or take) seconds from engine start. You have to give the water pump (impeller) time to pickup water and fill the powerhead before you get enough pressure to pee.

the water pump might take a minute to kick in, if it doesent, blow some compressed air up through the "pee hole". Also ckeck the impeller again
