Hello all,

I just bought a Bombardier Challenger 180 jet boat and I'm about to install a depth sounder Hummingbird HDR610P in it. I was wondering if anybody has an idea of where I should mount the puck transducer inside the hull so I get the best readings of depth???

Tks in advance,
Jon

Re: Install of a puck transducer inside the hull

If your boat will stand it, fill the bilge with water such that you have a couple of inches where you think you want to mount it.

Go to a likely looking spot and put the puck over the side and take several readings recording the results.

Put the puck in the bilge, in the water and find your spot.

Drain it, dry it, rough it up (boat and puck) and epoxy it in place with as few bubbles as possible.

Jon, Mark has a good method, however, you do not need to epoxy the transducer to the hull, if you can mount it with screws in a place where it will stay wet.

Putting the transducer in a "baggie" full of water and tie wrapping it shut works just as well.

Yeah, that ought to work. The water ought to force the baggie to conform to the boat's contour (for good connection) and the plastic is solid and thin so if there were any loss associated with it it'd be minimal.

Learn something everyday.

Thanks for the tip.

It works well. I ran around with mine laying in the bilge for a week before getting things situated back there.
