Oil Mixture Help 1980s Johnson 28HP

I inherited a Johnson outboard, 28 HP motor, which was made in the 80s. The plate is banged up, so I can't tell what year it was manufactured. I did find a label that says 1:100 which I assume is the oil/gas mixture. I suspect that may be wrong due to the newer TCW oil that is currently available. I want to be sure before I use the motor. It was completely over-hauled and put into storage for a year+, before I received it. Shouldn't the mixture be 1:50?? I'm anxious to use it on an old pontoon.

50:1 is correct

They did reccommend 100:1 for a short while but quickly repealed it when so many engines destructed. 50:1 it is.
