That may be one of the solid state ignition Tecumsehs. Does it have an exterior coil attached to the cylinder head? If so, it's a solid state ignition. If not, then it's a standard magneto engine with points.

Good luck if it's the solid state engine. Parts are simply not available for them, and the used market is dried up from people buying all the coils to keep their engines running.

You can find a new coil for about $120, but the stuff under the flywheel is simply not available. I know, because I have a 9.9 hp model, and have been looking for months.

Yes there is a coil on the cylinder head. I can get it to run after alot of pulling and it seems to run good at higher rpm's but dies out at idle speed when I turn it to the shift zone. rich lean adjustment doesn't seem to make any change in idle do you think that is where the problem is maybe my adjustment is not working

If the carb adjustments don't respond then most likely the carb needs a rebuild with special attention to cleaning all passages and jets.

Some, (or many) of those air cooled Sears motors used a small rubbery cone shaped tube like item stuffed into the carb flange area.

It's called a fuel pump, and if split on the end will cause issues.

I think they are a couple bucks at Sears, and a commonly replaced item.
