He fellas, new here, but I am stuck, I saw after cleaning the boat this weekend the kid went to raise the motor and fluid was coming out of the ring around the trim cylender rod. went to the local dealer and got the new rings and shoulders but for some reason i cant get the darn thing to come out. I have unscrewed the cap and released the pressure and fluid but it just seems as if something else is holding it in:confused:. Does anyone have any info on how to get these out so I can put the new seals in. Thanks, Jack

Man, ya'll meaning to tell me that NO one has ever had to replace their rings and sleeves? I'm trying to do this in the morning so we can get basck out on the H2O.

Or....Am I taking on something that I shouldn't?

you will need to unscrew the pistons out off the trim cylinder.
there is a tool for it that you put into the 4 holes and unscrew it.

good luck

thanks reeldutch, got the cap unscrewed and loose but it won't come off, is it that tough to get off or do I just need to use a little more force!

it should come out pretty easy.
there might be some vacuum going on.
did you drain all the fluid?

Reeldutch, Thanks for the help!
I have the end cap unscrewed, all fluid drained, can manually push trim rod in and out. Can physically turn end cap with my hand but the lil bast*#d still wont come off. I have pryed, tapped, pulled so much I'm going to have to get a new end cap as i have pretty much destroyed the one that stuck, I guess the next step is to just beat the Sh*t out of till it gives up, might even try a Gear puller to get it off!
Help I've never been this stuck with somethig so simple:confused:

Hoooooray BEER! Finally got it off, whom ever put it in the previous time ( not me) they got the threads crossed, now I just got to figure out how to get a tap in there and rethread the Manifold so the NEW cap screw will bite:eek:
I appreciate the help Reeldutch, but when you have someone before you put something in wrong it leaves us others with a mess to have to deal with!
