15 HP Loose armature?

I recently acquired a 1980 15 hp eith electric start and charging system. When I inspected the armature plate, it appears to be loose on the crank boss, ie there is about .080 of slop on the fit. Is this normal? Does the armature "float" on the pull of the magnets on the flywheel?

There is a up-date kit to solve that problem. I don't have the kit number right off hand.

I don't at this point. I'll see if I can find, or someone here may have it.
