I just found out that my top cylinder isn't working. I read a few other post about pulling the head to fix my problem, just wondering if this is something the average joe can do? The only other thing that i have really done on an o/b is rebuild carbs. If i do decide to pull the head, does the motor have to be removed from the boat or could i just remove motor cover and go to town?
thank you
andy

Why would you pull the head and what makes you think anything other than a head gasket would fix the problem (which is about all you can fix with the head off). Don't you think you should check fuel, compression and spark before going after engine internals?

After posting the thread i talked to a mechanic who suggested that the top cylinder isn't receiving gas to create the combustion. I removed the carb. and was wondeirng if anyone knew how to properly remove the jets. I see a little brass nipple on the top of the carb that looks like you can turn but wouldn't move for me.
thank you
