Gentlemen,

I find myself faced with a daunting problem. I bought this boat (obviously used) off of Craigslist because I really love the lines of the old girl. The guy told me it was a 1960 Mariah...Because it had Mariah written on the side of it..I took him at his word. The bastard was wrong !!!....Now I find that Mariah did not even make boats until 1989 and they went bankrupt in 2002 only to be bought out by Sea Fox later the same year....The hull has no tags or ID of any kind and the hull is stripped back to just the fiberglass No controls, No nothing to get a clue from...Apparently she had a front window at one time on the cuddy that was broken out and replaced by a fiberglass and bondo patch (So imagine a window there..)

The Delimma is this...What da hell izit?????

Anybody seen something like this before? and does anyone know how I might research this out?

I am going to DMV tommorrow hoping the title will have some info..But would appreciate any help I can get to ID her...

Thanks

Mariah might be the name of the boat and not the manufacturer of the boat. I've named a few myself. It might be the model name, like Corvette is to Chevy. It's also possible that Mariah did indeed make it in their infancy before they organized into a formal company, or that Mariah the company sprung from Mariah the model. Boat companies are frequently family businesses. Hopefully the title will be enlightening. You might have a look over at fiberglassics.com for pictures of a similar boat. They have a forum too. The lines say Crestliner to me.

hopefull you can get info using the registration number. there were a lot of cuddy's made along those lines. i would definately try to put the front window back in with lexan. i would not care who made it, i still like the old boat. she will freshen up nicely.

OMG!! That looks just like a Muir Maid my dad had way back when. Even the same colors. And the early 60's would have been about right. It didn't have those grab rails on the cabin roof but they sure would have been handy!

We had an old V4 75 Johnson on it. Had the little door in the front so you could grab the starter rope (even though it was electric start). As a kid of about 12 or so I was bound and determined I was going to rope start it one day. I ended up with one foot on the transom and tried to pull the rope. Could barely get it to turn over. Dad decided he'd help by tapping the starter so I'd think I started it. He tapped, it started, I ended up in the cabin. Backwards.

Cracks me up to think about that. Thanks!

Re: What da hell IZIT ?????

Thanks for all of the insight guys...I went to fiberglass.com and I think I may have found her in an old ad. It looks like a model 9001 or 9004 (Circled on Pic)made between 1958 and 1960 by Sea King. I cannot be sure, but the description of these things and this ad seem pretty convincing to me. The ad denotes that the original color was blue and I checked the paint on mine and sure enough it was blue originally and someone changed it to red later on (poor job of it I might add). The body style seems very similar also...Hard to be exact from an artist's rendering...

What do you think ???

Well Gentlemen,

I have identified my boat !!!! MV records confirm it is in fact a 1960 SEAKING model 9004. The trailer is a 1967 Uniflite single axel.

Thank you for all of the input and suggestions. Willy and Studly are the men of the hour. I found the brochure on fiberglass.com and the finding was confirmed by the DMV records this morning...

BRAVO !!!

And Thanks,

D man
