Shaft Lenght?

I'm confused about the length of a 73-18hp Evinrude's shaft, does not fall into the category of short 15'' or 20'' long, I took a reading of 18'', what shaft is this?
I'm sure I got it right, measured from top of the mounting clamp bracket to bottom of the cavitation plate still can't get 15'' or 20?:confused:

The measurement wants to be to the top of the cavitation plate.

You're saying from the "top" of the mounting bracket.

The measurement wants to be from the underside of the transom mounting bracket..... that is the surface that actually rests on the transom. Is this where you're taking the measurement from?

Well, 18" is closer to 20" than it is to 15". I'd have to lean towards the long shaft definition.
