Welcome to iboats. there are 6 pages of electrical test here, find yours and i don't think the fitcht is in it. but take a look. http://www.boatpartstore.com/page28.asp hate to tell you but the fitcht is a different animal, a few people here are experienced with them.

The coils are triggered by grounding out the 24 volts that are supplied to them. The engine computer, ECU, takes care of that.

To troubleshoot, you will need a DOS laptop with the 1.42b Evinrude diagnostic software, and a serial interface cable, along with the software booklet and the factory service manual.

It's a lot like today's cars that can't be diagnosed without the correct test equipment, scanners, 'scopes, books, and the technical knowledge.

Don't overlook the obvious such as a shorted "kill switch" or a blown fuse.

You need to verify if its the ECU or something in the kill switch part. The wire from the key to the ECU that kills the motor.

I don't know the exact procedure off hand with EFI motors. I suggest getting a repair manual or better yet, the service manual. Older carbureted motors with CD ignition is easy. Unplug the harness from the motor and jump the starter. If it cranks and fires, there is a short or something in the wire probably at the switch. EFI needs power to the computer so you may have a bad relay in there someplace.

This may help, may not. On a OMC 2 stroke non- fitcht tha kill wire is the black with yellow stripe. It kills the motor by being closed to ground thru the switch. Try just disconnecting that wire from the switch. Open circuit will let a normal 2 stroke run, maybe fitcht too.
