I have just bought a used Gamefisher(made by Force)1992,9.9hp kicker.
The good:
Lower unit lube is perfect.
Has good spark.
Good compression indicated from the pull resistance, sound(I'll confirm tomorrow with my gauge...).
Powerhead seems to be in very good condition.
Plugs are a normal color with no fouling.
The bad:
Cover is cracked(no big deal,a little resin and cloth...).
Tilt lock is broken/missing parts(?).
Reverse is non-existant.
The ugly:
The majority of the shift linkage parts are missing from the motor.
Sears doesn't have many of them in stock.
I cant seem to get reverse by manually shifting the main linkage rod.
My question(YES,FINALLY....):
Will the shift linkage parts from a 1996 Gamefisher/Force 15hp be a direct replacement?
My motor's model# 225.581995
Candidate donor's model# 225.581508
I am not pressed for time,as I have a 9.9 Merc for this old Appleby, just couldn't pass up this deal.
TIA
