Block off thru-hull

My old boat had an overboard dump type head. I replaced the old head with a macerator head and installed a holding tank. I had planned to remove the thru-hull fitting and glass up the hole. However at this piont I am leaning toward simply replacing the thru-hull with a stainless one blocking the hole and forgoing the glass work. (my plate is full with other projects)
I was hoping someone knows of a block off fitting made for this rather than using a standard thru-hull. If not, you think I cut the barb off the fitting and have a plate welded to the fitting on the inside blocking it off?
Any other ideas?

Re: Block off thru-hull

are you talking about the dump thru hull, in your pictures. you should be able to get one that has the screw in type flush plug. there is one made that has the nut on the inside, rather than the surface mount as this pic.

Go bronze and ditch the stainless.

Bronze is much higher on the galvanic series list than stainless steel.

Yes TD the thru-hull i want to plug is the one with my thumb in the picture. I have been unable to locate any of the "flush plug" type fittings that you mentioned, but that would be perfect if I can find one the correct size.

The original fitting is bronze. I had not considered corrosion problems because I am in fresh water. I have not run into any previous corrosion problems so I assumed fresh water was why. Is galvanic corrosion normally a problem in fresh water? The fitting is just above the water line and is normally not in contact with the water.
