My power steer has a broken area and i couldn't find a place to borrow or even buy the tool. Is there any other way to remove this?Oh, I also need the installation tool.

I am just wondering why they could'nt use threaded shaft to make removal and installation simpler.

Napa or Auto zone should have the puller......
To press it back on you should only need a bolt, a nut & washer.....
Don't beat it back on or you will mess it up......
A starter & alternator shop might help ya as well.....;):)

There is no other way without the tools. Anything else will cause some kind of damage.

Did you try any auto parts suppliers? Maybe you could remove the complete the pump and take it to an auto repair shop and have them remove it for you.

I just called auto zone and they can lend me the puller for FREE! Thanks. Putting it back should be a lot easier.

Haut - Can you elaborate on how to install the new pulley with bolt, nut and washer? Thanks.

Haut - I think I know how this works. I just have to find the correct threaded bolt that will fit on the shaft. Thanks.

Get a bolt about 3-4" long that has the same threads as the shaft on the PS pump.....
Get a stout flat washer with the right inner diameter to fit over the shaft but not over the pulley....
Get a nut for that bolt & thread it up enough that the bolt, nut, & then washer can be threaded into the shaft with the pully in place...
Thread the bolt until it seats, (not too tight).....
Hold the bolt end with a wrench & tighten the nut.....
It should draw the pully on........:)

Re: Ways to remove Power Steering Pulley

Haut - exactly what i thought it should be. Spent a few days in caribbean with wife ( only way to spend the money) and did not have the time yet to go to autozone to pull the pulley. I get the whole picture. I have the new pulley and the new, longer belt to go with the wider pulley. Thank you.
