If anyone is in the NJ area and is interested in a free Wellcraft 19' sunhatch boat, let me know. I bought this for it's motor and controls.
This is a basically a bare hull. It was a running boat that I used for parts to complete another boat more suited for fishing. It came from freshwater and was in use less than a month ago.

The floors are solid and the transom didn't show any flex with a jack plate and a Johnson 140 on it.

It has to go by Monday, I need the trailer to pick up another project.

If no takers by Monday, it gets crushed up and hauled away.

It would make a good all purpose or ski boat. The hull is in good shape with no signs of damage or repairs.

Re: Free boat

I just figured I'd give it a chance here, it's a good heavy duty fiberglass hull that would make a good center console or custom if someone was looking for a project. I have too many projects myself or I'd save it a set it aside.
It's really to big and heavy for what I need. It would take a full size truck to tow it safely.
The floor and stringers all feel solid and if you were to cut away all that upper fiberglass and make a center console out of it, it would make a great fishing boat. I just don't have the time for another project.

Re: Free boat

If there are no takers by Monday, it will fit easily in any yard, they fit nicely in a couple of trash cans after a few passes with the loader.

I have had a few like this this year, so far all have found homes, this one is in a lot better shape and is more complete than any of the others. What surprised me is how heavy this is built, the glass is about 3/8" or more thick, the hull on my Renken is no wheres near that thick. The lower side of this is also in great shape, no gouges or scrapes at all. I can picture this as a center console fishing or crabbing boat real easy, the lower hull would be a great project.

The trailer isn't mine, it's belongs to a buddy that keeps his boat in the water all summer, I borrowed it since both of mine have boats on them at the moment.

Re: Free boat

You could try to "donate" it to a charity. Look on ebay, lots of charities auction boats there. You give it away, get tax write-off, they sell it for $300 and everyone is happy.
I think "Boat Angel" or something like that name is the one to use.

Re: Free boat

I put it up on eBay first, if it don't go, I'll cut it up and haul it away I guess. I just hate to cut up a boat that is still solid.

I may save some of the flat pieces of glass for future projects, I'll saw cut the flat sections out. It's pretty solid and there's several places that are pretty flat. It may come in handy for repairs or custom projects later.

Even the carpet is still in nice shape, even if I just use it to wrap bunks with. I'll save and reuse the teak too, most of it is pretty generic in shape.

The SS tie down loops, several hundred ss screws and maybe even the dash section may come in handy one day. The rest may just meet the power saw and track loader. It's pretty amazing what 28,000 pounds will do to a glass boat.

Re: Free boat

I don't care what it sells for, just so its gone. If someone wants a project, it's still a good hull. I just need the trailer empty. I see it's got a $.01 bid, so it will sell.

Re: Free boat

great, that's what you wanted. maybe the will dress here up and take here out. it actually looks like it would be a great beater, just to fish out of. if they just threw and engine on it

Re: Free boat

The auction ended, then the buyer emailed me asking where NJ was. Apparently there are some people out there that aren't clear on things like geography, the winning bidder is in GA, I am in NJ. Now there's no reponce.
I think if I don't here anything after tommorrow it meets the bull dozer.
Another 0 feedback bidder that just joined wasting my time I guess.
I knew there was a problem when at the last few minutes of the sale I get an email saying "Where are you located" from the winning bidder. I just don't see much chance of someone driving up from GA to pick up a boat that needs work. Especially someone that isn't clear on where NJ is.

Re: Free boat

I haven't even heard back from the buyer, the last thing I heard was the email asking me where NJ was. If they want it after today, they'll need a shovel, I fueled up the dozer last night. It won't take long and it will be nice and compact when I'm done. I will leave a really nice feedback message for that bidder too. I think some people just bid for sport or something, there are certain items that seem to attract the non payers. I have had more problems lately with larger items and items that are more attractive to the younger crowd. I have sold thousands of items on eBay and have only had about 5 no contact bidders. None were ever refuse to pay cases, just no contact. I did have one bad postal money order but that was obvious. I only ship once the payment clears anyhow and will no longer even consider a personal check. I am now seriously thinking about no more Money Orders too, but at least on those I have the chance to get my money before I ship. They still require me to drive to the Post Office though to get paid.

I do want to cut a few larger pieces of flat fiberglass out of it for future repairs, the two rear sides of the hull are about 3' x 9' of flat 3/8" thick fiberglass which may come in handy when doing custom projects. I want to cut out and save the dash board area too. The same for the hatch and railing. Those will sell on eBay as will the windshield. I also want to remove the rest of the aluminum and the transom cap metal, it may come in handy for a future boat too. The same for the tie down loops, but they will come out with the dozer, a good tug usually rips them right out.

I used the bimini top on my other boat already, it donated a running motor and two parts motors that came with it, and a truck load of various near new accessories, so I did ok anyhow. If I crush it down, the local landfill will take it for free, as a whole boat they want $90 per ton. To save the $90 I'll gladly shovel it into a dump trailer. They sort of look like a pile of feathers after an 14 ton machine has its way with it.

Years ago I got rid of one with a bottle of propane and an igniter from a model rocket, we filled the cabin with propane, ran for cover and lit the ignitor, the result was a deep boom or a loud popping sound that shook the ground a bit and a resulting pile of fiber glass strewn about the field which took all day to clean up. I think these days they would frown on that method.

If it were a wood boat we'd be roasting hot dogs and marshmellows over it already.

Re: Free boat

The railing and hardware already has a home, it's going to repair a partiallymissing railing from another boat here. The front of the railing and most of the rearward fittings were trashed, the front ones were all new. The front V section was home made, I took that off, recut it and made a grab rail for my center console that I am building.

The hull bites the dust Sunday morning, I'll wait long enough for all the neighbors to not be sleeping and it's done for. I don't have a video camera, but if I remember my digital camera I'll take a few after pics.

I have a list of parts that I had requests for that are already saved, the hatch doors, the hatch lids, all of the teak wood, the swim platform, and the dash pod and wall are all sold and already cut out. I'll also cut two large flat sections out of each side, both inner gunwales, the remaining floor, and the upper forward deck area and cabin floor and rear walls. I already removed nearly two whole sheets of 3/4" marine plywood, several 24" x 10' strips, and all of the side carpet for future use on bunk boards. The carpet in this thing is hard backed and water proof, the backing is stiff and looks like either vinyl or some type of plastic. It can be rolled up but not too tight and it can be creased and folded to cover bunk boards.

I wasn't going to bother with the plywood, but with the cost of marine plywood and the fact that this stuff still looks new, it would be a waste to bust it up.

The transom was in fair shape, it wasn't really rotted, but was a bit wet looking on the top splash well corners. (I removed the transom to gain access to the rear hardware easier this morning). I removed the transom with a backhoe, it came off in one piece after I precut the corners.
I put a bar inside and poked a 4" hole through with a chain and off it came.
It sure does wonders for stress relief I guess but the neighbors must have thought I went over the deep end. It sure made a pop when it broke free. It also made it much easier to get all the ss hardware of the transom with it laying on the ground.
