tilt wont' move

Hi all,
I have 1988 4 cyl.merc 185 h.p. with alpha 1 o.d tilt wont go up or down I had no problems when it was put bed for the winter . pump is pumping i removed the lines top and bottom both sides and got fluid ,with the lines totally disconected should i be able to push down the outdrive? it is in the up position. thanks ahead for any tips or help you give.

Yes you shuld be able to lower and raise the drive with the lines disonnected. I had mine disconnected this spring and it moved very easily.

Yes, you should.....
Sometimes the trim rams stick due to corrosion.......
Put the lines back on & stand on it with someone pushing the down button.......
The rams are much stronger pushing the drive up than pulling it in.....
Be sure you are ready for it to drop........;)

After you get it moving down while jumping on the drive, remember the next time you put it all the way up you will hear the pump build pressure. Instead of leaving it jammed like that, just hit the down button enough to relieve the pressure. The pump check valves and rams will be much happier.

after bleeding the the system i hooked the lines back up and working like a charm now. back in the water fishing .thanks again
