gear oil leak

i have a tohatsu 6 hp outboard that seems to be leaking gear oil from a small hole on the right side of the lower unit and from the prop shaft. will a bad prop shaft seal cause this or do i have a crack in the lower unit?

If it was the propshaft seal it wouldn't be leaking out the cavity drain hole, so it's probably not that. Are you sure that it is gear oil? If it's black and it's just a few drops that show up after use it's unburned fuel draining out the cavity.

i'm sure it's gear oil. motor has been sitting in the garage for a year or two.

is there a way to find out if the lower unit is cracked?
