High Thrust models are for non-planing heavy boats such as pontoons. That's their primary purpose. They are also good for tow boats, underpowered boats, and work boats. But for conventional planing boats for average use, they are not the right choice. They are slower for two reasons. They're geared for pushing and not planing, and the gearcase is larger and uses larger props. That increases drag and decreases the speed. They also stick down deeper into the water and make hitting something all that much more likely
