Fuel Line Question

I recently installed my rebuilt carburetor and reattached all cables and the fuel line. It now appears that I need to remove the fuel line, however I am having a great amount of difficulity doing so. I am using one wrench to hold the fuel inlet nut and one wrench to turn the fuel line nut, however I am torquing the metal fuel line (yes I am turning in the right direction ;)) Is there any trick to getting this off safely?

Second, do I have to use a metal feul line from the fuel pump to the carburetor or is there an alternative?

Thanks!

Re: Fuel Line Question

It may be that the fuel line itself is binding the fitting. Gently grab the line a few inches behind the fitting and staighten it out. You might also let someone hold the wrench on the fuel inlet nut while you loosen the fuel line nut while gently moving the fuel line around until you feel it unbind.

And any lube is better than no lube at all. :D

Re: Fuel Line Question

Thank! That sounds good, and I will definitely try it.

As for the second question, is there any alternative to the metal fuel line?

Re: Fuel Line Question

As a follow up on this thread. I went to Advanced Auto and found a hose barb that would fit the carburetor, as well as hose barb for the fuel pump. I got the USCG fuel line hose from West Marine and it all is working fine.
