I bought a 1957 Whitehouse boat with a Gale buccaneer outboard 25hp. It hasn't been started in 25 years or so. I took it to the lake and it started right up. My question is, how do I know if the water pump is working. I ran it for about 5 min. and it did great, other than the control cables being a bit sticky.

Wouldn't make any difference to me. Unless I had knowledge of it's being replaced, I'd replace it, or at least the impeller anyway.

definately, i would also spend another $150 +-, to rebuild the carbs, replace coils, condenser, points, plug wires and the impeller. all parts are available at laingsoutboards.com. i just did a '58 35 hp. i also converted it to a new fuel pump, so i could use the new single line tanks.

Thanks for the advise. "laingsoutboard.com" doesn't come up. Are you sure it's the right address?
