I'm pretty good at mechanical work, but have not worked on outboards. Is it fairly uncomplicated to replace a water pump and empellor on a '57 gale buccaneer? Where can I find a place online for basic instructions? Where can I find parts?

Re: water pump '57 gale buccaneer

parts are available at laingsoutboards.com . i just did a complete refurbishing of a '58 35 hp. there is a plate 1/2 way up the leg of the motor with 2 screws, sjift into reverse, behind it is the shift linkage, loosen the bottom bolt, but do not take it completely out. on the lower unit are i think 6 bolts with 9/16 heads remove those and the lower drops out.. the impeller is simple 4 screws, installation is reverse, line up water tube, and make sure linkage goes back together. removing the spark plugs, and turning the fly wheel make lining the drive shaft splines easy. i also rebuilt my carb, changed coils, points, condensers, plug wires. now i have a dependable engine. no worry of it breaking down. cost +- $150.

Thanks for the advise. sound pretty simple. Also, where do I look for water to come out when the pump is working. I don't see any ports that look like water outlets.
