Help with starting problem and Year of Johnson Tracker 40HP

Hi all, I am new to this forum and am in need of some help.
I own a Bass Tracker with a Johnson 40Hp outboard. The motor was running fine last year. I went to the lake today and could not get the motor to start at all. I checked for spark and there is none. Any help troubleshooting this problem would be greatly appreciated. I do not know the year and was looking for some help with that also. Model #TJ40ELETB and Serial #G03266535.

does the boat have a kill lanyard? check it. here's a couple of pages of electrical test:

Hi Lee. The first thing to check is the kill switch. Make sure the lanyard is connected. If this fails, disconnect the large red plug in the engine compartment and jump out the starter. See if you then have spark..It's a 1993 model...

Yes the motor has a kill lanyard and the lanyard is attached. Thanks for the help, I will go and check the link you posted, all the best, Lee.

Welcome to iboats,

You have a 1993 motor. Have you checked the 'man overboard lanyard" (kill switch)??
