Okay this is really trying my patience. I have posted and been here before but it has been a while. Here is the story 1996 Bayliner with Alfa one out unit, 2003 Mercruiser 305 MPI. I am redoing the upholstry in the boat. I cannot get the Quicksilver 3000 throttle assembly off. I took it apart on the back side, not good, that will have to be fixed latter. But one post in here said place throttle in full and remove the "button" for throttle only. I broke the button off and now there is just a little plastic piece in it now. I am at my wits end. I am smarter than this boat, I think, please help me.

Ok look on the bottom of the controller. (Tilt the controller forward so you can see the bottom). There may be a hole there with a screw in it. An allen wrench will remove that screw. Are you sure you have the 3000?

I thought I had a 3000 but it wasn't and mine had the screw in the bottom of the handle.

Pic 1 is a pic of the handle mine had with the screw in the bottom.
Pic 2 is a pic of the 3000 classic.

Here's a thread for removing the 3000 classic:

Okay the allen head is out that is a small set screw. How does it pull away from the linkage box?

Is your controller like pic1 or pic2 or something else?

if it is like mine (not pictured above) then after removing the screw with the allen wrench you can now pull out on the handle and it should slide off a set of splines. Once off you will see 3 lagre brass screws that go through a mounting plate, the side wall and into the control box. Once you remove the 3 brass screws everything will come off. One other thing - you may not be able to find replacement parts for this so be prepared to replace if it is broken.

If that doesn't work post some pics and I am sure we can it off.

Amen Sabastian.

I replaced my throttle assy a while ago (it was like pic1).

I bought a Teleflex control that worked great except for the trailer button which doesn't really fit right in the controller. I had to superglue the trailer button into the controller either because I lost a piece, or the package I received didn't have all the parts.

But anyway, you'll probably have to replace the whole controller assy.
