I'm going to look at a 1993 18ft Invader boat. I've search high and low and can't find any thoughts or opinions on them. I'm mostly wondering if they are a high end or low end boat as far as quality goes. So I'm just looking for some opinions. Thanks Jeff

I know Invader some . . . The hull I am familiar with is an 18 or a 19 and very similar to a Reinel of the saem vintage. However, they had some other hulls as well. Any more info on the one you are looking at? The one I liked was lower profile and either OB or I/O.

Decent boat, not the highest end, but not lowest either. Good basic middle of the roader . . .

Invader is (was) made here in Texas. I remember shopping them in the '70's when trihulls were the thing and theirs looked like everyone elses. The local big (large volume) boat house (dealership) sold them for a long time. Fiberglassics is a site that flaunts old glass boats. There is a writeup there.

The pictures show it as being a bow rider with captains chairs & a long bench across the back. With a sun deck over the engine. 4.3 Merc (v-6) 151 hrs. It also has a removable fibergalss or composite cover over the bow. He listed it as GW Invader 18ft.

Re: anyone heard of Invader boats (1993)

I have a 94 GW Invader 18 footer that was made in Indiana. I think they went out of bus. in 96. If it is a GW good look on finding info on them. Most of the info I have gotten on mine came from people that used to work at the factory because it was about 15 miles from where I live.
I know when I was thinking about trading it in the dealer said that it was around 16k in 94.
If it is a GW I have been happy with mine for the most part and I know 3 other people I go with around here that have them. My biggest complaint is how they mounted the eng. lag bolts. I think how ever the impact was able to drive them in, thats how they went in. Also if it has a slope on the floor (assume its there to get the floor as low as pos.) beside the drivers console, step across it and not walk down it. It gets slick and you bruise your ***** along with your pride when all your friends see you do it.

They sold them here in the late 80's to 90's. They were better than the bayliner of that era but not too much better. They were entry level boats that had plenty of wood inside them.

If you are considering one..... check the floors, stringers and check the bottom for length wise cracking in the bottom of the hull.

Best advice is check carefully for rot.
