Port compression values:
1 = 110
2 = 115
3 = 0
4 = 105
5 = 95
6 = 95

Have not pulled the heads to look. Is that my first step or should I not even bother?

Is it possible to repair #3 cylinder or do I replace entire power head?

other options?

Any thoughts are helpfull

Thanks

depends on whats wrong, could just be a head gasket but with 'O' i doubt it. it's repairable.

Is one cylinder fixable or do you have to fix all six?

Pull the heads and inspect all six cylinders. You need to determine what happened to the bad cylinder (generally it's a lean fuel mixture due to a dirty or gummed up high speed jet. If there is evidence of damage in the other cylinders such as scoring of cylinder walls, evidence of detonation (pitting of piston crown) or other damage, then a total rebuild is probably in order. If the other cylinders look ok, I'd de-glaze those cylinders to clean up the bores a little, install new rings, fix the bad cylinder (bore it and replace the piston) or sleeve it if its really bad. Before you even think about running the engine after the rebuild, rebuild the carbs or run the risk of doing the job all over again.

Thanks for the info. I guess my next step should be to talk to someone who services Evinrudes.
