Replacing the fuel lines on my boat and I have a bunch of good 5/16" line laying around, just wondering if it will be big enough for the above motor. Looks like it's got 3/8" on there now. So will the 5/16" give me any performance trouble?

Also the owner before me had an inline filter on the existing line just before the fuel connector at the engine, do inline filters give any problem if they weren't originally put there by OMC? It's an OMC filter, but obviously not put there by OMC. Just want to know if I should replace it or take it out altogether.

I bought the boat through a third party so I was never able to speak with the owner.

Thanks.

I use an in line filter with a see thru glass housing on both my 70HP yammy & 35 Merc. You can see potential problems before they become problems by having it out in the open so it is readily seen. On my 110 Evinrude I use a screw on water/fuel seperator in the fuel tank compartment. No performance problems. Not sure about the 5/16" versus 3/8".

I have the fuel/water separator also, that is a must. The inline filter isn't really clear, a little more opaque, but you can still see the fuel inside.

It's a standard OMC in line filter that I've seen on later model V6's, but it's usually up in the engine compartment right before the OMS pump, here it is just stuck inline outside of the engine right before the connector.

Thought it looked like a good idea but just don't want to have something there that's not supposed to be there, or can cause a problem.

Thanks.

5/16" is big enough but all your fittings are 3/8"

Hey Walker thanks. Yeah my primer is 3/8", but I was able to get a 5/16" OMC (Bomby) fuel connector. The 5/16" line squeezes onto the 3/8" connections OK, a little tight, but no problem.

Will an inline filter give me any problems, there's one on there now, but even though it seems like a good idea, I don't want to stick one on the line if it will give me any trouble.

Thanks.

It should be okay as long as it doesn't get restricted from catching crud.

Thanks Walker. I'm gonna replace the filter with an OMC inline filter, I have some left over from when I replaced them on my 2000 Johnny 200, those were inside the engine cowling though, right before the OMS pump, so I knew those belonged on there, guess they should work for the 115 too.

Thanks.
