Finaly got the motor running with a rebuilt ECU and some software from EbAY
thanks for all the help with that...

anyway i got out to the lake and the boat seams to run great for about two hours until i bump a rock with the prop,so i lift the motor and have a look ...there is about a cm chip out of one blade...i lower the motor and start to get up on plane and the boat loses all pull but still revs,so after a few tries it seems to get abit worse like it will troll but if i give it any throtle it just slips or revs,i put it on the trailer and check to see if i am engaging the pro and nothing seams broken still goes into reverse and foward and the prop will turn the motor over when i turn it with a johnson bar ...any ideas:confused:

thanks peter:(

Yep...you've spun your prop. There is a rubber bushing inside the prop that holds the prop to the shaft. It is designed to break free when you hit something to protect the lower unit gears. You need to have a new bushing pressed in or buy a new prop. Cheaper to have the prop fixed...unless there is too much damage from when you hit the underwater obstruction....

the blade and hub can be reconditioned, but you just learned why some of us keep a spare in the boat.

Yep! I only have a small v hull john with a 15 on it, I just ordered a new prop and will keep my dinged one under the seat for a spare...just in case!

back on your topic.. I have never had one repaired but I assume most GOOD boat shops can repair it for you.

it requires a special press to rehub a prop. when i have mine done, i have the do a total reconditioning. they do a new hub, and rebuild any nicks in the blades and check the pitch and balance. thus, it's a new prop.
