I got it started.

The fuel pump has a crack in it where it was modified for a non factory fitting, so it leaks.

The shift lever (handle) is missing.

It is popping in and out of gear on it's own.

Is there a service manual for this?

Unfortunately, I started it thinking it was completely air cooled. The top of the drive shaft (assembly just under the power head) became hot enough to sizzle water, but passed when it popped into gear. There was a small mist of water and exhaust coming out of a hole about a third of the way down on the propeller side of the shaft. Was this supposed to be a steady stream?

Where can I get an impeller?

Where can I get other parts?

Thanks.

I believe some of these motors may not pump water in neutral.
My book says a series of holes on the leg:: but water should mist out of the hole(s) as it is dispersed by a deflector at the top of the leg.
Try this number for parts.563-652-2411.No doubt you will have to leave a message and you may need part numbers. They may have a manual to assist repair and parts selection.Clinton has been out of business for some time. These motors are marginal performers so you may want to consider how much you spend.

Re: SeaKing J700 1106B (clinton)

I just picked up a Wards (clinton) 7 hp. Fired right up after who knows how long in some guy's shed. I only ran it for a few seconds and then shut it down.

I was under the impression it was air cooled only....??? but there is a series of 4-5 holes towards the top half of the shaft.

so...the question...is this air cooled only, water cooled, or a combination??

also...any experience with oil ratio's

thanks!

Re: SeaKing J700 1106B (clinton)

After reading through lots of posts I have my questions answered! Great site with lots of goodies.

any things I should check before taking it out?? I am not sure how long it was sitting but it is in pretty good shape.

Im thinking
Clean and lube all fittings and linkages
inspect propeller (shear pin)
inspect lower gear case and change lube if needed (reccomended lube?)

anything to add??
