I recently posted a thread about a 'Rude Lightwin I could pick up cheap. $75 to be exact. The guy that was going to sell it to me is a surgeon that has spent his entire career helping war victims. Apparently land mines don't know when a war is over. He was back home trying to raise money for prosthetic limbs for innocent civilians with body parts blown off. Darn conscience!!! I couldn't steal the motor. Not from this guy. He needed money more than I need a motor. I offered to try to get it running so he could get a better price and he accepted (duh). I started by giving it a good cleaning. This motor was pristine! No dents, rust, or leaks. I used the steps I got off this site and she started third pull. I couldn't believe how smooth it ran. He wound up selling it for $450. I'll be kicking myself for a while about the one that got away but at least I can look myself in the mirror. MJ

Good Job!
Its great to hear of non-selfish good deeds done.
I am sure someone here will think of you if they come across a good deal for you.

Good for you. Sounds like he got a great price too. What year was it?

1957. He sold it to another doctor who was going to give it to his dad. Lucky dad. Now I'm back on the hunt. Thanks for the positive responses everybody. MJ

I am certain a "great deal" will happen for you shortly. Be proud of what you did. I fixed up several "none running" lawnmowers and weedwhackers for a local group that were raising money for a worthy cause. They ended up making over $4,000 to their cause. I did not get squat but that is not why I did it.
Be proud of yourself, a good one will come along or you.

That would be very cool. I'm don't think I would recognize it unless it had a big sign that said "Ole's First Outboard", but I'm learning fast thanks to you folks. Be well. MJ
