I see this a lot looking at bigger boats. What exactly is it and how do you measure it? Just curious.

Thanks,

Re: Deadrise???

It is the angle of the bottom of the boat, usually measured at the stern. The higher the number the sharper the V design is. Deep V-hulls ride better in rough chop but are not as stable at rest (they rock more) as a flatter bottom boat.

It is the measurement of the angle of the bottom of the boat from horizontal. The angle A would be the deadrise.

Other thing you pay for that soft ride. Deep v's take more hp per unit of performance than flat bottoms (that beat you to death).

Deeper V hull do ride better. They also use more fuel to go the same distance and are slower to plane.

I always thought it would be nice to have a deep V in front and a tunnel in back.

It all depends on what type of water you plan to boat. Rough seas and big waves will beat the daylights out of you on a flat bottom boat.
